In its 9th year running, the 2019 Mondial du Tatouage (February 15-17) welcomed 30,000 people and 420 global tattoo artists.
This February, I flew to Paris with Shane, Steph (my fiancé), Darren and Rosman. Shane is a Singaporean tattoo artist specialising in traditional Japanese irezumi and had a booth at the second floor of the Grande de la Halle Villette.
Over three days, I spent most of my time helping him sell his prints. Steph and Darren stripped to their fundoshis to showcase Shane’s inks on their skin, while Shane tattooed Nick from Amsterdam on the first day and Ollie from Germany on the second.
I also met humble, respected artists like LewisInk (BlackSymmetry), Xnaza (Naza), CK Tattoo (Singapore) and Yallzee. One particular full suit done by Koji Ichimaru blew me away. You’ll find them in the vlog I did above!
